DEAR SISTERS AND BROTHERS,

The month of September is traditionally devoted to celebrating the life and work of our catechists. It is an ideal opportunity for the entire parish to understand and appreciate this important dimension in the life of the Church. I encourage everyone to make an earnest effort to truly enter into the spirit of Catechetical Month; let us help our Church to be ever more committed to the process of becoming a truly informed and secure community of faith.

I make an appeal to Catholics to offer yourself in the service of the next generation of believers by becoming catechists. The Archdiocesan Catechetical Office offers many programmes of formation among which is a correspondence course open to everyone. Yes, you too can be a catechist!

Next Sunday, September 12, we shall be holding the fifth of our 2010 pilgrimages to the National Marian Shrine in Laventille. I encourage as many as possible to attend.
